Ashtabula Ag Day, sponsored by Ashtabula County OSU Extension and the Ashtabula County Farm Bureau is the county’s youth agricultural education event, where first graders come to the Ashtabula County Fairgrounds to experience agriculture through hands-on and interactive stations. Activities range from butter making, learning about soil and planting tomatoes, to learning more about farm animals, and learning about the origins of the food and fiber people need.

We are back to normal this year and can’t wait to see all of our first graders in Ashtabula County attending Ag Day 2022 on Friday, May 13, 2022.

Volunteers are the key to success

We are currently looking for volunteers with a passion for agriculture and our youth to help us out. This event has an annual attendance of over 1,000 first graders and 250 volunteers are needed.  Please register as soon as possible. This is a truly amazing and impactful experience and we would love to have you!

If you can’t spare your time, but would like to help us financially support the program, you can donate today.

For more information contact me at 440.426.2195 or Abbey Averill at 440.576.9008.

The Ag Day program May 13, 2022, is not open to the public. In order to volunteer, you MUST be registered.

OFBF Mission: Working together for Ohio farmers to advance agriculture and strengthen our communities.

Labor has always been an issue, mainly because we are a seasonal operation. So that's a challenge finding somebody who only wants to work three months out of a year, sometimes up to six months.

Farm Labor Resources
I appreciate the benefit of having a strong voice in my corner. The extras that are included in membership are wonderful, but I'm a member because of the positive impact to my local and state agricultural communities.

Strong communities
I see the value and need to be engaged in the community I live in, to be a part of the decision-making process and to volunteer with organizations that help make our community better.

Leadership development
Farm Bureau involvement has taught me how to grow my professional and leadership experience outside of the workforce and how to do that in a community-centric way.

Young Ag Professionals program
With not growing up on a farm, I’d say I was a late bloomer to agriculture. I feel so fortunate that I found the agriculture industry. There are so many opportunities for growth.

Growing our Generation
Knowing that horticulture is under the agriculture umbrella and having Farm Bureau supporting horticulture like it does the rest of ag is very important.

If it wasn't for Farm Bureau, I personally, along with many others, would not have had the opportunity to meet with our representatives face to face in Washington.

So many of the issues that OFBF and its members are advocating for are important to all Ohioans. I look at OFBF as an agricultural watchdog advocating for farmers and rural communities across Ohio.
