Under provisions of Ohio’s new commercial fertilizer law (SB 150), anyone applying fertilizer on more than 50 acres for agricultural production will be required to obtain certification.

Obtaining a fertilizer applicator certification is an important component in farmers receiving a legal tool to fight frivolous lawsuits they may face from applying fertilizer.

Ohio State University Extension will hold three training events that will meet certification requirements.

Online preregistration is required.

Agenda will cover certification criteria including affirmative defense, soil testing keys, phosphorus management for productivity, BMP’s to limit edge of field loss and other topics to be determined.

Registration is from 8 am until 8:30 am. Program begins at 8:30 am and finishes at 11:30 a.m.
