Morrow County Farm Bureau will host a drive-it-yourself Agricultural Tour of Morrow County on June 18. The tour begins at 1 p.m. and includes a grain farm, a small livestock farm operation and a greenhouse.

The family-friendly event is free to attend and open to the public. Tours and demonstrations will give attendees insight on the local agricultural industry including current crop production practices, conservation methods, beef cattle production and retail plants.

Tour stops

Linder Farms, owned by John Linder and family, is primarily a grain farm located at 6748 County Road 9, Edison. John, along with his brother, Mike, and wife, Cheryl, run their fifth-generation farm raising corn, soybeans, soft red winter wheat and soybeans for seed, and are preparing to incorporate the next generation to join the operation. John Linder is the current chairman of the National Corn Growers Association board.

HC Farms, owned by Dale and Darla Clinedinst and Linda Hill, is a livestock farm located at 4433 Township Road 21, Marengo. This small family farm raises beef cattle. The three owners are Morrow County 4-H advisors. Darla works as a nursing supervisor and serves as the 4-H camp nurse. She was recently presented the Ohio 4-H Alumni Award at their volunteer conference. Dale is vice president of Disaster Relief Haulers, which helps different states after they are struck by disaster. 

Groovy Plants Ranch, owned by Jared and Liz Hughes, is a greenhouse and garden center located at 4140 Co Rd 15, Marengo. This family-owned business has a passion for plants and strives to provide the most unique and intriguing botanical oddities from around the world. The site covers two acres, and they have recently added three greenhouses. They propagate and grow a large portion of their offerings.

Email [email protected] or call 419-747-7488 if interested in carpooling. Those carpooling will meet at the Morrow County Fairgrounds by the entrance to Gate C, and will leave the fairgrounds at 12:40 p.m. to head to the first tour stop.

Those who do not wish to carpool may meet at 1 p.m. at Linder Farms. More tour information and a map will be available at both locations.
