Join Central State University for a series of weekly online webinars with CSU Extension educators on topics important to small farms. Each webinar runs from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. and features a presentation, followed by time for questions and discussion.

The focus in January is on the crop planning and marketing. The webinars are free but registration is required.

Jan. 6 : “Crop Planning 101” – Presenter: Dana Hilfinger
Crop planning is an essential for staying organized, managing your workload, creating crop rotations and being sure you have enough produce when you need it during the season! Join ANR Extension Educator Dana Hilfinger for a session on some tips and tricks for developing a crop plan for diversified vegetable and fruit farms. Register

Jan. 13: “Developing your Small Farm Market Niche” – Presenter: Michelle Wallace
Does your small farm business stand out from the competition? Have you developed a clear mission and vision for the farm? Do you have a farm focus that drives your marketing for your farm? Developing a niche for your small farm will help to make your farm successful. Learn how to develop a niche, analyze your market competition, determine your strengths and weaknesses so you can capitalize on what you are good at to prioritize your resources. Register

Jan. 20: “Direct Marketing at Farmers Markets and through CSAs” – Presenter: Marc Amante
In this program, we will discuss how to get started with direct marketing your farm products through two common models: farmers markets and Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) programs. Whether you’re raising fruit, vegetables, flowers or livestock for meat and/or dairy, these two models are common ways to start making money from your farm, and we will talk about the unique challenges and considerations for each.
