In celebration of National FFA week the agriculture programs in Auglaize County  recently worked together to help those  in need. The FFA chapters of Wapakoneta, Waynesfield, St. Marys, New Bremen and Minster worked with the Auglaize County Farm Bureau to hold a canned food drive.

The drive helped collect over 600 pounds of food and personal care items that were donated to food pantries in the county. “We feel it is important to remember to give back to our communities, and this drive will help families in need,” said Rick Tangeman, Farm Bureau Organization Chair.

The FFA’s competed in a contest based on pounds of food donated and the St. Mary’s Chapter came out the winner with 332 pounds and Wapakoneta was second with 120 pounds. “It is tremendous to have such great partners in the FFA chapter, “said Jill Smith, Organization Director with the Farm Bureau, “they have really stepped up to the plate and giving a great gift to our community.”
