Monday, June 6

This morning I woke up and left to meet the FFA officer team at school so we could leave for our officer retreat.  We had a 5 hour car ride to Camp Muskingum in Carrollton, Ohio, where we decided to have our retreat.  After we unloaded everything in our cabin, we walked down and checked in.  We walked back to the cabin and had discussions about what we like and dislike about our officer year so far, what we expect out of this year, and how we want to grow.  Then we walked down to the camp and ate tacos in our own little special room.  After dinner, we had a scavenger hunt and my team won.  We then walked back to our cabin to meet with one of the directors to do low ropes.  We participated in a bunch of individual and team building exercises and games that were lots of fun.  Then we headed back to the cabin to conclude the day with talking about improvements and then going to bed.

Tuesday, June 7

We woke up this morning, ate breakfast, got ready, and then put on our official dress so we could go and take officer pictures.  After our pictures, we went back to change in to normal clothes and then work on the POA (Program of Activities).  The POA is basically an outline of all of the events and activities our chapter decides to plan and participate in.  After working on the POA for a while, we had lunch and then worked on the POA some more.  After working on it for quite a while more, we went to have dinner, which was chicken, mashed potatoes, and corn.  After dinner Ms. Warner decided to give us some free time.  During our free time, we met some campers, went motor boating, played tetherball, and talked a little bit with the state officers.  When it felt like we couldn’t work any more, we worked on and finally finished our POA.  After finishing the POA, we had an officer meeting and went to bed.

Wednesday, June 8

This morning we woke up and ate breakfast, got ready, packed our stuff, and loaded the van up.  After everything was loaded, we headed over to the high ropes course to wait on some directors.  We participated in many different courses of high ropes that were very scary at times and felt like you were going to fall.  After finishing the high ropes, we left for home, ate Wendys, and drove the 5 hours home.  We played some games in the car to make the time go by faster and then we were finally home.  When I got home, I fed my steers.  Let me tell you a little about my steers:  I have two market steers that I am going to take to the county fair this year.  I feed and work with them all of the time to get them ready.  I feed them each 24-25 lbs of a growing and a finishing cattle feed a day to get them to around 1200-1300 lbs at fair time.  After feeding, I started getting ready for dance pictures.  After pictures, I let my steers out, packed for the CMA Festival, and then went to bed.

Thursday, June 9

I woke up this morning and then got ready to leave.  Me, my mom, sister, and my friend’s mom then left to go to Nashville for the CMA Festival.  This again, was another 5 hour car ride and it lasted forever.  We finally got to our hotel, which was the Gaylord Opryland.  We then left to go downtown to go to the fan fare.  The fan fare is a place where you can get free stuff and get autographs and pictures with all of the country artists.  After spending an hour in fan fare, we left to go see Colt Ford’s concert and then went to eat at the Wildhorse Saloon.  After eating we went to the night concert where we got to see the Zach Brown Band, Easton Corbin, Sara Evans, Jason Aldean, and Brad Paisley.  After the amazing concerts, we went back to the hotel and went to bed.

Friday, June 10

We woke up this morning and walked around our hotel.  The hotel was huge and the most amazing hotel that I have ever seen.  After walking around in amazement for an hour or two, we left for downtown to go to fan fare again.  After fan fare, we went shopping and bought some boots, and then went to Cadillac Ranch to eat dinner.  Then we went to the night concerts again to see Ashton Shepherd, Dierks Bentley, Keith Urban, Sugarland, Lady Antebellum, and Reba.  After another night of great performances, we went back to the hotel to go to bed.

Saturday, June 11

Today was our last day at the CMA Festival because we have to leave a day early to get home for my dance recital.  We got up and went downtown to walk around for a while.  We ate at McFadden’s today and then continued to walk around for a little bit.  We headed to the stadium a little early today so we could go to the Tennessee Titan Pro Shop before the night concerts.  After shopping, we got to see Chris Young, Little Big Town, Josh Turner, Trace Adkins, Martina McBride, and Rascal Flatts in concert.  After the concert, we decided that we were going to drive straight home.

Sunday, June 12

We got home this morning around 7:00.  After we got home, dad and I went to church.  After church, we stopped at a FFA pancake breakfast in West Elkton.  When we got home from breakfast, I fed my steers and then started getting ready for my recital.  My dance recital went very well and was a lot of fun.  After the recital, I came home to feed my steers and then work with my steers and my pigs.  Now to tell you a little about my pigs: I have two pigs that I am also taking to fair.  They also get fed and worked with all the time.  They get fed around 8-10 lbs of a growing and finishing hog feed each day to get them in the market weight of 220-300 lbs at fair time.  After working with my 4-H animals, I let out my steers and then came in to go to bed.
