The Crawford County Farm Bureau, in partnership with the Crawford County Cattlemen’s Association and the Bucyrus and Galion-Crestline Chambers of Commerce, will celebrate the role local farmers play in the local, national, and global food systems with their first-ever A Taste of Crawford County. The event will be held Thursday, Sept. 12 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the Youth Building on the Crawford County Fairgrounds. Tickets are $8 for Farm Bureau members and $10 for nonmembers.

“Farmers play a key role in our local economy,” said Steve Reinhard, event chairman. “They are leaders in the community, and they want to produce healthy food to benefit our world. We hope this event will help address concerns consumers may have with food production while also initiating conversations. We hope farmers will be able to connect with consumers and provide a better understanding of the origins of the food on their plates.”

A Taste of Crawford County will offer a unique opportunity for the community to gather with farmers, eat delicious, locally produced food, and talk about the role of local farmers in a variety of economies. The event will begin at 5 p.m. with tastings of locally produced foods. At 6 p.m. there will be a catered potato bar with a variety of toppings, followed by a moderated panel discussion with audience questions on the role agriculture plays in today’s society.

Tickets are available at area Chambers of Commerce or by calling 800-327-6055. A portion of the proceeds of the event will be donated to area food banks.
