Lake Erie Watershed & Agricultural Financial Loan Opportunities Workshop

Agricultural producers or anyone involved in the agricultural related businesses are invited to an open forum event  Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2013 at the Lake County Department of Utilities in Painesville Twp.

The meeting will be from 9:30 a.m. until 2 p.m. with a lunch provided at no cost; advance reservations are required by Feb. 24.

In recent years, our Great Lake has suffered from massive blooms of harmful cyanobacteria (often called blue green algae), caused by increasing levels of dissolved phosphorus.  These harmful blooms are not only smelly and unsightly but they can emit toxins that threaten human health and disrupt the recreation, tourism and sporting industries.

This issue can be controversial and many factors are involved in the cause and effect of the increased phosphorus levels. This will be an opportunity to hear from agricultural producers on the perception the problems and solutions in keeping Lake Erie healthy.
