Policy Development Meeting Set for June 21

Huron County elected officials, representatives of government agencies, county commodity groups, and other organizations have been invited to discuss their concerns with the Huron County Farm Bureau at a policy development resource meeting to be held Thursday, June 21, 7 p.m. at Huron County Job & Family Services, 185 Shady Lane Dr., Norwalk.  Hot appetizers and drinks will be served.

"The policy development process is the most important thing Farm Bureau does at the grassroots level in influencing our government to represent farmers," said Doug Brown, policy development chairman for Huron County Farm Bureau. The policy development committee will listen to suggestions on how Farm Bureau might work with elected officials and other groups to solve community problems.

"Farm Bureau is a grassroots organization. We as members can have our concerns addressed through our policy development process. It starts at the county organization with issues that are important to us at the local, state, and national levels," said Huron County Farm Bureau President, Elaine Conger. Conger added, "When I attended the 2011 Ohio Farm Bureau Federation Annual Meeting I saw that our issues and concerns were considered and addressed. It made me realize that the Farm Bureau policy development process does work for its members."
