Members of the Miami County Farm Bureau and Troy Elevator, a Division of the Mennel Milling Company, are partnering  to fight hunger in Miami County  through the “Farmers Feed Our Needs” campaign. We are inviting all farmers who are harvesting wheat to donate some of their wheat bushels for hunger. For every bushel donated, Troy Elevator will deposit the current market price of that day into an account. At the end of wheat harvest Troy Elevator will write a check to The Bethany Center in Piqua.

“We are excited about opportunity to raise money for our local food banks, by farmers donating a couple bushels of wheat when they come to Troy Elevator.  As farmers we grow the most safe and abundant food supply in the world, but in this tough economic time we know that there are families going hungry and this is a way for farmers to give back. With the help from Troy Elevator we are planning to continue this program not only through wheat harvest, but also through corn and soybean harvest,” says Mandy Havenar, organization director for Miami County Farm Bureau.

Any farmer wishing to donate wheat should let Troy Elevator employees know when they arrive. For more information on this program you can contact Mitch or Dianna at Troy Elevator at 335-8334.
