Have you always wanted to start a garden and just didn't know how? Well we can help! The Shelby County Farm Bureau, Shelby Soil and Water Conservation District and Crossway Farms are hosting "From your Backyard to Your Plate," a series of meetings to help you plan, implement  and use a backyard garden.

This series of four meetings will help you make use of any space to grow, and give you the tips and tools to make it happen. The first session will be all about garden planning; location, soil basics, plant selection and garden design. Session two will be a tour of Crossway Farms and see how they are doing gardening on a large scale as well as sessions on collecting rain water and composting. The third session will be taking what we grow, and learning how to preserve it. The session will include lessons in canning and different techniques to make the most of your garden season. The final session will be a “week in a day” meal planning. The session will help us be better meal planners and continue to use what we have on hand.
