The Promotion and Education (P & E) Committee has been hard at work on several projects. Currently third graders from Anna, Botkins, and Jackson Center are completing posters and essays explaining how their food gets to their plate. All entries will be judged by the committee and the winners will be announced during National Ag. Week March 24-28. We are also celebrating National Ag. Week by donating agriculture literature books to the county schools. With this long standing committee tradition, we have a donation rotation between the school systems. The three books this year are Pigs & Pork, How Did That Get in My Lunchbox? and Seeds, Soil & Sun.

Upcoming events include Business After Hours at the Koenig Equipment Training Facility in Botkins on Thursday, March 27; Emerson Elementary Gardens in April and May; and the annual Conservation Day Camp June 24-26. For more details on these events please contact the county Farm Bureau office, 877-775-7642.

Thank you P & E Committee for all you do and watch for more event updates and pictures in the next newsletter!

Pictured... Pioneer Day, held at the Shelby County Fairgrounds Oct. 2, was a day of learning how the pioneers lived and discovered new ways of living. More than 900 4th graders from Anna, Botkins, Jackson Center, Fairlawn, Houston, Fort Loramie, and Sidney learned from Shelby County Farm Bureau members (Danny Allen pictured teaching) how butter was discovered and then made some for themselves to enjoy with crackers, YUM!
