OSU Extension, the Ashtabula County Cattlemen’s Association and the Ashtabula County Dairy Service Unit Board of Directors would like to invite livestock producers to an “Animal Disease Traceability” Workshop on March 13, 2014 at the Ashtabula County Extension office. This program is being held to inform producers about the new animal disease traceability requirements for moving livestock across state lines. On March 11, 2013, the Traceability for Livestock Moved Interstate Rule established minimum national official identification and documentation requirements for the traceability of livestock moving interstate. The species covered in this rule include cattle, sheep, goats, swine, horses and poultry.

Attend this workshop and learn more about the new federal requirements for animal movement, identification procedures, the use of owner-shipper statements, and the Ohio allowances for these provisions. Representatives from the Ohio Department of Agriculture and United States Department of Agriculture APHIS will be the guest speakers for this workshop.

This workshop is free and open to the public. Light refreshments will be served. More information about this program can be obtained by calling the Ashtabula County Extension office at 440-576-9008. Do not miss your chance to learn about these new regulations.

Thursday, March 13, 2014 from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.  OSU Extension Office - Ashtabula County,  39 Wall Street in Jefferson, Ohio 44047  (440) 576 - 9008.
