About his family: Shane and his wife Melody have seven children, ages 22 to 6.About their farm: They have a seventh generation, 1,300-acre farm in Jackson County with three generations currently living there. They raise cattle, and Shane hauls grain and forest products and liquid/dry fertilizer for custom application. Interesting tidbit: Shane’s brother lives in the original farmhouse that was built from lumber sawn from the farm’s trees.Family values: Family first. “I love seeing my children feed calves. Working together brings our family closer together while teaching my children to be honest, hard working and to have responsibilities. We value our constitutional rights and the freedoms God gave us.”Favorite chore: Being on the tractor – the smell of the dirt and the roar of the tractor.about his community: “Our small community comes together in time of need. We fight for our rights and our small town beliefs.”Why he farms: Being able to pass a lifestyle on to his children. What he does for fun: Camping with his family and being involved with Farm Bureau,4-H and FFA.
