Welcome to Spring! Spring brings warmer weather, longer days, and no more snow.

Wood County Farm Bureau had the opportunity to host the elected officials at its annual Legislative Breakfast held on April 7, 2014 at Stone Ridge Golf Club. The elected officials shared details of their prospective offices over the past year and what is on the horizon. A question and answer session was held. Sheriff Wasylyshyn urged everyone to be watchful in their neighborhoods for strange vehicles that may be out of place and give their office a call if there is a concern.

This March I had the opportunity to visit Washington D.C. with the other county presidents from the state of Ohio to talk to members of Congress about current issues in agriculture and hear their perspective on what is happening in Washington. We listened to various speakers and visited the Canadian Embassy. The highlight of the trip was the Farm Forum hosted by Senator John Boehner.

In June we will be writing our new policy. If you have any suggestions for new policies, please submit them to the county office. These policies make this grassroots organization a success.

I hope that you have safe Spring.

Jeff Meyer

President, Wood County Farm Bureau
