A proposal being considered by Ohio lawmakers would merge the Ohio Department of Agriculture, Ohio Department of Natural Resources and Ohio Environmental Protection Agency into a "Resource Protection Department."

Political correctness aside, the department of agriculture is there to service the needs of the farmer, ranchers and consumers as it applies to the business of farming. While farmers and ranchers are very in tune with nature, I am opposed to consolidating a department where people who do not have a mandate for agriculture as their primary drive are put in charge of it. The nebulous term "Resource Protection Department" is a way for environmental wack-jobs to insert themselves into agriculture without having to admit that it is agriculture that they are there to protect. Personally the less the goverment is involved, the happier I would be. flag as improper
