Ohio Farm Bureau's annual Ag Day at the Capitol featured a wide variety of Ohio's most influential people.

Headlining the event were Gov. Ted Strickland (D) and his opponent in the upcoming gubernatorial race, John Kasich (R).  Both candidates expressed their commitment to Ohio farmers and their opposition to the planned ballot initiative being pushed by out-of-state animal rights group the Humane Society of the United States (HSUS).

Also attending the event was Robert Boggs, director of the Ohio Department of Agriculture, who discussed the ongoing implementation of the Ohio Livestock Care Standards Board.  Brent Poreus, president of the Ohio Farm Bureau, highlighted the importance of events like Ag Day at the Capitol and explained why it is important for farmers to reach out to their legislators.

Statehouse News Bureau's Bill Cohen shared his insight into the fascinating world of political journalism while state representatives Cliff Hite (R), Carlton Weddington (D), Jim Zehringer (R) and Jay Goyal (D) discussed important policy issues facing the state of Ohio.
