OFBF to Offer Two Youth Conferences This Summer
For Immediate Release May 13, 2009
COLUMBUS, Ohio (OFBF) - Ohio teens are invited to join together for a unique set of summer leadership conferences sponsored by the Ohio Farm Bureau Federation (OFBF).
Each conference will provide opportunities for youths to bond and build quality leadership, teamwork and communications skills. The program changes each year and youths can participate up to four times.
Quest Conference, for ages 12 to 14, will be held July 8 to 10, 2009 at Ohio Wesleyan College in Delaware. During the conference, youths will build friendships and learn how to communicate with others, how to reach out to others and how to deal with stress and issues important to young teens. Registration is $100 per person, with a deadline of June 12.
Higher Ground Conference is for youth ages 14 to 18, and will also be held at Ohio Wesleyan College. From July 19-24, 2009 teens will learn how to enhance their creativity, leadership and teambuilding skills through hands-on workshops and activities. Registration is $200 per person, with a deadline of June 19.
Fees for both programs include meals, lodging and a T-shirt.
“Teens learn that they can have an impact now and don’t have to wait until years later to have an influence,” said Darrell Rubel, director of volunteer development for Ohio Farm Bureau. “We all want to build a better world, and in order to do that, we build lives, one person at a time. These conferences not only build teens’ confidence and leadership skills, but also helps them learn how to invest in the leadership and lives of those around them. They learn that their positive influence has an impact and it all happens right before their eyes.”
To register, contact your county Farm Bureau office, or download a registration from the event listing at www.ofbf.org. Youths must be from OFBF member families to attend.
Ohio Farm Bureau is the state’s largest general farm organization with more than 234,000 members. For more information on how to become a Farm Bureau member, visit www.GrowWithFB.org.
