COLUMBUS, Ohio (OFBF) - Ohio Farm Bureau Federation (OFBF) has named Adam and Aubrey Bolender of Russelville as its 2010 Outstanding Young Farmers. They will represent Ohio in the national contest during the American Farm Bureau Federation annual meeting in Atlanta in January.

The award recognizes individuals or couples age 35 or younger for their accomplishments in their farming operations and their leadership in the agricultural community.

The Bolenders have a strong agriculture background. Adams grandfather established a dairy business in 1960 milking 20 Holstein cows. Today, Adam has his own milking herd and has incorporated them with the family's dairy operation. He also raises approximately 200 acres of soybeans and has a small beef cow/calf operation. Aubrey, who grew up on a grain farm, is a teacher and helps on the farm after school and during summers. The Bolenders have been very active in youth programs such as 4-H and FFA.

The couple was named the winner during OFBFs Leadership Conference, Aug. 21 and 22 in Columbus.

When youre farming you wake up in the morning and you cannot wait to get to work, and its just one of those things that I think is born in you, Aubrey Bolender said. We do this because its that love of family and love of growing things, and being a part of the biggest industry in Ohio.

As winners, the Bolenders receive a $1,000 purchase certificate at Grainger Industrial Supply courtesy of Farm Credit Services of Mid America, 250 hours of use of an M-series tractor courtesy of Kubota, and $500 from Dodge. They also receive a personalized Longaberger basket from Ohio Farm Bureau.

Kyle Brown of Marion was also a finalist for OFBFs Outstanding Young Farmer award.
