Ohio Farm Bureau appreciates Sen. Brown's support of common sense regulation

For Immediate Release
June 22, 2011
The following statement may be attributed to the Ohio Farm Bureau Federation (OFBF)
COLUMBUS, Ohio (OFBF) – "Ohio Farm Bureau thanks Ohio Sen. Sherrod Brown for his support of the Reducing Regulatory Burdens Act, which was passed yesterday by the Senate Agriculture Committee. The Committee approved H.R. 872, which protects pesticide applicators, their customers and state and local government from costs associated with duplicating already existing federal pesticide regulations.
Pesticides applications are effectively regulated under the Federal Insecticide Fungicide Rodenticide Act, which requires label restrictions governed by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). H.R. 872 would stop a recent court ruling that would add duplicative EPA regulations under the Federal Clean Water Act.
Sen. Brown's support of this bill demonstrates a common sense approach to regulations. Consumers and the environment are currently well protected under existing law; there is no need to harm farmers, small businesses and local governments with unnecessary regulations.
OFBF will work toward quick passage by the full Senate."
