COLUMBUS, Ohio (OFBF) – Editors: statement can be attributed to John C. (Jack) Fisher, executive vice president of the Ohio Farm Bureau Federation.

“Ohio Farm Bureau congratulates Brent Porteus on his appointment to the board of trustees for The Ohio State University. And we are grateful to Gov. Kasich for selecting Brent from among many highly qualified candidates.

“Brent’s appointment by our governor affirms agriculture’s importance to Ohio and the university’s role in advancing the industry’s contributions to our state.

“As an OSU grad, a father, a family farmer and businessman, a leader at the local, state and national levels, an engaged member of his community and past president of Ohio Farm Bureau, Brent has a deep appreciation for OSU’s land-grant mission.

“Brent will work to assure that Ohio State University, and its College of Food, Agricultural and Environmental Sciences, continues to be an accessible and affordable educational resource for Ohioans, that it will excel in teaching, research and community outreach and that it will be a driver of economic well-being for the state.”
