The committee collects and organizes policy recommendations from county Farm Bureaus and presents the final policy suggestions to be voted on by OFBF’s delegate body at the annual meeting in December.

Youths awarded in Capital Challenge competition

COLUMBUS, Ohio (OFBF) – Engaging young people in democracy was the goal of the first ever Ohio Youth Capital Challenge. The contest, sponsored by Ohio 4-H, Ohio FFA and the Ohio Farm Bureau Federation brought together youth ages 14-18 from around the state to discuss community issues and concerns then to work together to propose policies and programs to solve the issues.

Young Agricultural Professionals leaders named

COLUMBUS, Ohio (OFBF) – The Ohio Farm Bureau Federation has named the newest members of its Young Agricultural Professionals Advisory Team: Nathan and Jennifer Brown of Hillsboro, Andy and Danielle Burch of Salem, Brad Heimerl of Johnstown and Greg and Janet McGlinch of Versailles. As team members serving two year terms, they will help develop and conduct activities that provide opportunities for young people to become involved in Ohio Farm Bureau programs.

Farmers working to protect Ohio’s water

As the peak season approaches for Harmful Algal Blooms (HAB) on Ohio’s lakes, the Ohio farm community is pledging its best efforts to protect Ohio’s valuable water resources. An alliance of farm organizations, environmental advocates, academia, businesses and other interested parties have begun a multi-step initiative to positively affect water quality both short-term and over an extended time frame.

COLUMBUS, Ohio (OFBF) – Bailey Elchinger of Deshler is the winner of the 2013 Ohio Farm Bureau Federation (OFBF) Discussion Meet. She won the finals of the event during the OFBF Young Agricultural Professionals (YAP) Summer Reach Out event June 29 at Deer Creek State Park.
