Summit County Farm Bureau Receives Grant for Creative Programming

COLUMBUS, Ohio (OFBF) – Summit County Farm Bureau was one of four county Farm Bureaus selected nationwide to receive a $700 grant from the American Farm Bureau Women’s Leadership Committee (AFBWLC) to help fund “Our Food Link” activities.


Jessica Swihart Joins Ohio Farm Bureau’s Field Staff

COLUMBUS, Ohio (OFBF) – Jessica Swihart has joined Ohio Farm Bureau Federation’s field staff to help support county Farm Bureaus in their operations. Swihart, who was hired in anticipation of future staffing needs, will be training under Darren Frank, organization director of Lucas, Ottawa, Sandusky, Seneca, Wood and Wyandot counties. Swihart’s duties will be helping leaders strengthen county Farm Bureaus through program development and implementation and identifying ways to serve members and their communities.


Outstanding Young Farmers Awarded Free Use of Kubota Tractor

COLUMBUS, Ohio (OFBF) – Ohio Farm Bureau Federation’s 2013 Outstanding Young Farmers Nathan and Jennifer Brown of Hillsboro recently received a Kubota M-Series tractor to use for 250 hours, one of the prizes for being named the state winner.


Young Ag Professionals To Hold Summer Event At Mohican State Park

COLUMBUS, Ohio (OFBF) – Young adults involved in or interested in food and farming are invited to attend a Summer Reach Out event June 28 at Mohican State Park. Ohio Farm Bureau Federation’s Young Agricultural Professionals (YAP) is hosting the event. Registration deadline is May 23.


Duke Hired As Ohio Farm Bureau’s Database Administrator/Developer

COLUMBUS, Ohio (OFBF) - Ohio Farm Bureau Federation (OFBF) has hired Jason Duke as a database administrator/developer. Information technology (IT) is an area of emphasis as the organization works to enhance member interaction and service. Duke will be helping maintain and program OFBF’s databases.


Ohioan Emily Buck Wins Tractor For Being A Finalist In National Contest

COLUMBUS, Ohio (OFBF) -- Dr. Emily Buck of New Bloomington has received a Case IH Farmall 45A tractor for being a top three finalist in American Farm Bureau’s Excellence in Agriculture award. The award recognizes successful young agricultural professionals who are actively contributing and growing through their involvement with Farm Bureau and agriculture.

COLUMBUS, Ohio (OFBF) – Ohio’s new nutrient management law is good for the state’s water resources and for responsible farmers, according to the Ohio Farm Bureau Federation (OFBF). Senate Bill 150 complements extensive voluntary efforts by farmers to keep fertilizer from escaping fields and getting into lakes and waterways.
