Ohio Farm Bureau Kicks-off Fourth AgriPOWER Institute Program

COLUMBUS, Ohio (OFBF) – Nineteen Ohioans interested in becoming future leaders and advocates for Ohio agriculture have been selected by the Ohio Farm Bureau Federation (OFBF) to participate in its 2011-2012 AgriPOWER institute. OFBF launched AgriPOWER in 2008 as an elite training program. The yearlong program consists of seven two-to-three-day training sessions that focus on public policy issues confronting agriculture and the food industry.

Aultman Selected to Participate in Intensive Agricultural Leadership Program

COLUMBUS, Ohio (OFBF) – Greenville resident Matt Aultman is one of 19 farmers and agribusiness professionals selected by the Ohio Farm Bureau Federation (OFBF) to participate in the 2011-2012 AgriPOWER program. Aultman works as a salesman and grain buyer for Keller Grain & Feed, Inc., is a Darke County Farm Bureau member and is the seventh generation on the family farm.

COLUMBUS, Ohio (OFBF) – Mingo Junction resident Yvonne Batchelor is one of 19 farmers and agribusiness professionals selected by the Ohio Farm Bureau Federation (OFBF) to participate in the 2011-2012 AgriPOWER program. Batchelor is a retired SSgt from the United States Air Force, a firefighter for the Brilliant Fire Department, a Jefferson County Farm Bureau member and part of her family’s small beef cattle farm.

COLUMBUS, Ohio (OFBF) – New Philadelphia resident Michele Burky is one of 19 farmers and agribusiness professionals selected by the Ohio Farm Bureau Federation (OFBF) to participate in the 2011-2012 AgriPOWER program. Burky is a dairy nutritionist for Cargill Animal Nutrition, a Tuscarawas County Farm Bureau member and part of her family’s dairy farm.

COLUMBUS, Ohio (OFBF) – Greenfield resident Adam Garman is one of 19 farmers and agribusiness professionals selected by the Ohio Farm Bureau Federation (OFBF) to participate in the 2011-2012 AgriPOWER program. Garman works with his family as the third generation in their agribusiness, Garman Feed and Supply, Inc., is a Ross County Farm Bureau member and part of his family’s grain and cattle farm.

COLUMBUS, Ohio (OFBF) – Pataskala resident Jeff Heimerl is one of 19 farmers and agribusiness professionals selected by the Ohio Farm Bureau Federation (OFBF) to participate in the 2011-2012 AgriPOWER program. Heimerl works with his family on their grain and livestock operation, Heimerl Farms, Ltd. where he manages the crop and maintenance sides of the operation. He is a Licking County Farm Bureau member and also has his own sign and decal business.

COLUMBUS, Ohio (OFBF) – Chardon resident Ty Kellogg is one of 19 farmers and agribusiness professionals selected by the Ohio Farm Bureau Federation (OFBF) to participate in the 2011-2012 AgriPOWER program. Kellogg is employed by Ohio Farm Bureau as an organization director in Lake, Geauga, Ashtabula and Trumbull counties. He is also part of his family’s farming operation which consists of white-faced Hereford beef cattle, chickens, produce, pine trees, maple syrup and hay.

COLUMBUS, Ohio (OFBF) – Upper Sandusky resident Jack Leslie is one of 19 farmers and agribusiness professionals selected by the Ohio Farm Bureau Federation (OFBF) to participate in the 2011-2012 AgriPOWER program. Leslie is a full time grain farmer, with his parents, in Wyandot County, is president-elect for Wyandot County Farm Bureau and owns and operates his own tile and ditching company.

COLUMBUS, Ohio (OFBF) – Cheshire resident Jeff Moore is one of 19 farmers and agribusiness professionals selected by the Ohio Farm Bureau Federation (OFBF) to participate in the 2011-2012 AgriPOWER program. Moore works for R&C Packing, is manager of the Gallia County Farmers Market, is a Gallia County Farm Bureau member and owns a commercial and registered Angus cattle herd and a commercial meat goat herd.

COLUMBUS, Ohio (OFBF) – Shreve resident Katie Myers-Griffith is one of 19 farmers and agribusiness professionals selected by the Ohio Farm Bureau Federation (OFBF) to participate in the 2011-2012 AgriPOWER program. Myers-Griffith works as the Farmland Programs Coordinator for Countryside Conservancy, is a Wayne County Farm Bureau member, serves on the Wayne County AG Success Team and has a very small diversified farm where she raises pigs, layers and manages a small community supported agriculture (CSA).
