After farmers raised concerns about USDAís initial proposal on a national identification system, the agency has offered a revised plan. The deadline for the comment period has been extended to Dec. 9. Ohio Farm Bureauís current policy supports a voluntary national animal identification system. It calls for uniform standards amongst states and says the plan must respond to concerns about cost, confidentiality and liability.
