Scott and Tracie Isler of Prospect have been named winners of Ohio Farm Bureau Federationís 2011 Excellence in Agriculture contest. The Excellence in Agriculture Award recognizes successful young agriculture professionals who are actively contributing and growing through their involvement with Farm Bureau and agriculture.
The couple, both graduates of Ohio State University, raises hogs, corn, soybeans and wheat on their Marion County Farm, where Scott serves as the swine production manager. Tracie is a second grade teacher, who enjoys integrating agriculture into her curriculum to help her students understand farming.
The Islers are heavily involved in leadership activities in the community and within Farm Bureau. They are past chairs of Ohio Farm Bureauís Young Agricultural Professionals Advisory Team, Ag Day at the Capital and AgriPOWER Institute leadership program, and have been involved with the Ohio Pork Producers, an Assisted Living Beautification Project and student mentor programs.
They will compete in the national competition in January at American Farm Bureau Federationís annual meeting in Honolulu, Hawaii.
