The Ohio Farm Bureau Federation (OFBF) will develop its positions on farm and rural issues during the organization’s 96th annual meeting.

Delegates are expected to take action on a variety subjects of interest to both farmers and nonfarmers as they establish the official policies for the state’s largest farm organization.

Elections will also be held during the meeting for the organization’s top offices and for district trustees. The winners of OFBF’s Outstanding Young Farmer and Excellence in Agriculture awards will be recognized as well as the winner of the Discussion Meet.

OFBF President Steve Hirsch and Executive Vice President Jack Fisher will deliver their annual reports to the membership and highlight priority issues for the coming year.

The second annual Ohio Farm and Food Leadership Forum will take place Dec. 10 This is a great opportunity to expand  leadership skills by participating in this event. Participants will have the opportunity to attend specialized learning tracks on leadership development, community development, technology in agriculture, and current issues.

Also taking place before and during the meeting is the Ninth Annual Rural – Urban Community Auction. The event will be held Nov. 10 – Dec. 9, 2014 online will conclude with a special “live” finale held in conjunction with the OFBF Annual Meeting Dec. 11, 2014.

Since its inception in 2005, the annual auction program has raised more than $110,000 for outreach programs, grants and scholarships.
