Dr. E. Gordon Gee, President of the Ohio State University, will join Founding Director Josh Jennings of the Global Impact STEM Academy for an On Air Google Hangout, a virtual conference video chat, May 7 at 4:30 p.m.

Those who wish to watch the Google Hangout can attend the virtual event by connecting with the school’s Facebook and Google+ pages. Live questions from the virtual audience will be fielded via the Global Impact Twitter account (@GIacademy).

This event is the first in a series of recruitment efforts for Global Impact, the new regional STEM school that will open on August 21 on the main campus of Clark State Community College in Springfield. Along with Gee and Jennings, the live broadcast will also feature Ohio State’s Dean of the College of Food, Agricultural and Environmental Sciences, Dr. Bruce McPheron.

“Ohio is primed for careers in biosciences,” said McPheron. “Dr. Gee and I understand how important the food, agricultural and natural resources industries are to our state, our nation and our world. In four years time, we hope to have Global Impact graduates coming to Ohio State as they take their next step in making the world a better place for us all.”

Ohio State University has provided support to the local science school through curriculum programs and a financial grant of $300,000.

“It’s been an extreme pleasure to have the support of Ohio State as we get this school ready for its first year,” said Jennings. “Getting to video chat with Dr. Gee will be a great opportunity to share more about Global Impact, our curriculum and our vision with live viewers.”
