Talk is not cheap. Conversation is a powerful tool. It can change opinions. It can enlighten.

Conversations about how food is produced are happening. But the voices of farmers have been less representative in the conversation about food production.

Engaging in conversation about food production will help farmers understand what consumers want to know and will help consumers learn more about how food is produced from the people who actually produce it. In the end, we all have an interest in food.

Unfortunately, science simply isn’t the lead element in building trust. Considering that 49 percent of the public says that conventional agriculture is on the wrong track, we need to follow a model that builds and further develops trust.

The Ohio Farm Bureau Federation will be hosting three regional training sessions focusing on how to have a productive conversation that builds trust in food, farming and agriculture.

The goal of each training session is to help you learn how to better respond to food system issues (GMOs, biotechnology, pesticides, fertilizers, animal care, human health and more) that friends and family members may share with you.
