Pickaway County and central Ohio residents are invited to experience a “Taste of Pickaway” during an on-farm multi-course meal featuring local farms, local food and local fun, Sept. 11 at 6 p.m.

Hosted on the farm of Dug and Jeanne Radcliff, 4558 State Route 361 in Circleville, the evening will feature the culinary skills of Chef Alfonso Contrisciani, restaurateur, academic dean of Hospitality Programs at Hocking College, and one of only 67 certified master chefs in the nation. Chef Alfonso and his students will research, plan and prepare the meal using products grown and raised in Pickaway County.

“This will be a wonderful celebration of local foods and Pickaway County agriculture,” said Mike Estadt, Pickaway County Extension educator and coordinator for the Ohio Fresh Foods Corridor, through which “Taste of Pickaway” was conceived in partnership with Pickaway County Farm Bureau and the Pickaway County Community Foundation.

“There’s so much agricultural variety in the county we are looking forward to showcasing,” Estadt said. “We encourage people to come out not just for the top-notch culinary experience, but to also support and connect with their local farmers and help raise funds for good causes.”

Proceeds from the evening will benefit local food banks and the Ag Fund of the Pickaway County Community Foundation. Individual tickets can be purchased for $35 per person at the Pickaway County Extension Office, Pickaway County Farm Bureau office and Ashville Grain, or by calling 740-474-7534 until Sept. 5.

Running along U.S. Highway 23 from Columbus to Portsmouth and through Pickaway County, the Ohio Fresh Foods Corridor helps people experience the connection with their food by promoting homegrown entrepreneurship, new investment and the value of Pickaway County’s existing strengths in food and agriculture. The corridor is funded by the Pickaway County Community Foundation’s Agriculture Fund.
