USDA Dairy Products Report as of Aug. 27, 2010

U.S. egg production totaled 7.69 billion during July 2010, up 1 percent from last year. Production included 6.58 billion table eggs, and 1.11 billion hatching eggs, of which 1.04 billion were broiler-type and 72 million were egg-type.

Both corn and soybean production is forecast at record highs according to the USDA report released Aug. 12, 2010.

Much-needed rain continued across parts of the South and East, although the benefits were partially offset by high temperatures.

As of Sunday, Aug. 22, 91 percent of corn was in dough, 95 percent of soybeans were setting pods and other crops were ahead of where they were this time last year.

Rainfall for the state was slightly above normal, but for plenty of field work.

Report for 7/12/10. Rainfall for the state was slightly below normal and fields continued to dry out. These conditions provided more time for field work.

As of Sunday July 4, 14 percent of corn was tasseled, compared to two percent for both last year and the five-year average. Ninety-eight percent of soybeans were emerged.

The average temperature for the State was 73.9 degrees, 3.3 degrees above normal for the week ending Sunday, June 20, 2010. Precipitation averaged 0.76 inches, 0.22 inches below normal.
