County Farm Bureau Round-up - September 2011
County Farm Bureaus across Ohio are gearing up for the fall and winter, and preparing their rounds of activities for the coming year. Here’s a look at what they’re sharing in the OFBF.org County Farm Bureau blogs. Click the links accompanying each entry for more details.
FALL FARM TOURS
Many county Farm Bureaus host fall farm tours open to the public. While some have already come and gone by the time this entry is posted, here are few still to be held.
OIL AND GAS MEETINGS
Farmers and rural landowners are seeing an increase in companies asking them to lease land as oil and natural gas exploration has increased throughout Ohio. Learn what landowners should know before considering leasing land at informational meetings being held throughout the state featuring Ohio Farm Bureau Federation Director of Energy Policy Dale Arnold. CAUV INFORMATIONAL MEETINGS
Farmers and rural landowners in many counties may have noticed an increase in what they are paying in taxes due to an increased Current Agricultural Use Valuation (CAUV). Learn what is causing the increase in CAUV at the following informational meetings:
ANNUAL MEETING TIME
Every county Farm Bureau holds an annual meeting about this time of year. The annual meeting is a time for members to not only get together for a nice meal and enjoy fellowship, but also to celebrate the past year’s accomplishments and prepare for the next. Farming members will also vote on the stance the organization will take on issues important to agriculture and the rural lifestyle, as well as determine which members will be voting delegates at the upcoming Ohio Farm Bureau Annual Meeting.
