OIL & GAS LEASING, ENERGY INFORMATIONAL MEETINGS
Oil and natural gas exploration continues to expand across the Buckeye State, leading to an increase in farmers and landowners being approached by companies about leasing their land to do so. Here’s a list of informational meetings being held across the state in March that will help you learn more about the issue, and what you should know before you are approached about leasing land.

March 13 – Delaware County Livestock Care Standards Community Panel - The community is invited to this panel discussion of local livestock farmers, where the conversations will focus on how Ohio’s new Livestock Care Standards will affect local farms.
March 13 – Farmers and landowners across the state may have a noticeable increase on their tax bills this year. Learn more about why this is happening and how Current Agricultural Use Valuations are calculated at this Noble County CAUV Meeting.
March 14 – “Gazing into Agriculture’s Future” is the theme of this Tuscarawas County Risk Management Seminar, featuring top-notch speakers on topics including “Biofuels and Energy;” “Animal Care 2015;” “Truck Weights and Regulations;” “Farms of the Future – Next Year – Next Decade;” and “2012 Farm Bill & Crop Insurance.”
March 15 – Ross County Farmers CARE Breakfast - Celebrate National Teach Ag Day with Ross County Farm Bureau at its annual Farmers CARE Breakfast. Admission is $1.
March 16 – 18 – Experience Mercer County Agriculture through the eyes of local photographers at this special event.
March 17 – Licking County Farmers Share Breakfast – Get a full pancake and omelet breakfast for $1. Attendees are asked to bring one non-perishable food item or make a monetary donation for the Licking County Food Bank. Children’s activities will be available, as will the Licking County Ag Hall of Fame presentation at 10:30 a.mMarch 17 – Join Marion County Farm Bureau for its Farmers CARE breakfast, where you can receive a full breakfast for a monetary or non-perishable food donation, which will be distributed to local food pantries.
March 19 – Hamilton County Farm Bureau Spring Fling Dinner – Join Hamilton County Farm Bureau for dinner and hear from Harold Dates, President and CEO of the Hamilton County SPCA of Cincinnati, about his role on the Ohio Livestock Care Standards Board.
March 23 – Butler County Farm Bureau invites local residents to discuss issues with officials and leaders at the state and federal level at this Legislative Policy Issues meeting.
March 24 – Delaware County Farmers Share Breakfast – Enjoy a complete breakfast prepared by local farmers for just 50 cents. Games and educational activities included for children.
March 24 – Miami County Farmers Share Breakfast – Enjoy a full breakfast for 50 cents, courtesy of Miami County farmers. Bring three canned goods to the event for local food pantries and receive a Farm Bureau reusable grocery bag.
March 27 – Your land is your legacy, prepare it for the future at this Fulton & Henry County Estate Planning meeting.
March 31 – Ohio Farm Bureau East Region Leadership Conference – Farm Bureau members in Ohio Farm Bureau’s East Region are invited to a day of sessions and workshops focused on building county Farm Bureau leadership opportunities to foster fresh ideas, provide tools to help accomplish goals, give hands-on training to help you lead and involve others, energize your leadership team and involve and strengthen relationships with your emerging leaders.
April 21 – Carroll County Social Media Training – Farm Bureau members are invited to a day of hands-on social media discovery and learning. Beginning Facebook session to be held in the morning, followed by an in-depth Facebook for Businesses session in the afternoon.
OTHER LOCAL OPPORTUNITIES AND HAPPENINGS
Lorain County Farm Bureau members can save while getting their gardens ready for spring with a 10 percent local discount at Locke’s Green Side Up Garden Center.
Cuyahoga County Farm Bureau and Seneca County Farm Bureau both share the good news that local Soil and Water Conservation Districts have been awarded grants from the Ohio Farm Bureau Foundation.
Medina County Farm Bureau shares details on how Ohio Farm Bureau teenagers can apply to be an Ohio Farm Bureau Ambassador on the Ohio State Fair Jr. Fair Board this summer.
Fairfield, Hocking, Perry and Pickaway County Farm Bureau members are invited to participate in the “HEAR on the Farm” online hearing loss study. Participants can earn up to $40.
Pickaway County Farm Bureau’s "Pickaway Agriculture" video contest entry deadline runs through April 1.
Darke County Farm Bureau’s Lester Ward has been recognized as a “Pillar of the Community.”
