'Our Ohio' back for Season 8
The Our Ohio television series returns for an eighth season this month with ongoing production of new episodes every month through fall 2013. This season also debuts a new show underwriter, Farm Credit Mid-America, who joins founding sponsor Nationwide Insurance and long-time sponsor Medical Mutual of Ohio as key program supporters.
Our Ohio is broadcast on public television stations throughout the state and is produced by Dayton public television station Think TV. Think TVís Learning Services has also been able to use the stories told in specific segments and format them into educational curriculums based on Ohio educational state standards to teach social science, math and history. These educational curriculums have been distributed statewide to under-served school districts.
Recent Our Ohio segments have featured the drought of 2012, Ohioís oil and gas boom, Champaign Countyís Stevens Family Bakery and Orchard, Grand Lake St. Marys, the science of pigs, corn CSI, and a feature on a Dayton inner city farm and aquaculture program. Season eight segments to watch for include farmer Tom Priceís partnership with Ohio State to compost trash from home football games at Ohio Stadium into a valuable soil amendment; Columbiana Countyís Bakerís Golden Dairy; and Clevelandís West Side Market.†
