Ohio Reps. Jean Schmidt and Bob Gibbs have been commended by the Ohio Farm Bureau Federation (OFBF) for their sponsorship of H.R. 872, the Reducing Regulatory Burdens Act of 2011.
OFBF is a federation of county Farm Bureaus representing all 88 counties. The organization reached a record membership of 235,064 in 2009. Nearly 60,000 of those members are farmers who each get one vote on the organization's polices. The retention rate for membership in the Ohio Farm Bureau this year was 89.86 percent.

The American Farm Bureau Federation presented OFBF with the traveling FBACT (Farm Bureau Agricultural Contact Team) trophy for the Midwest Region. The award is presented once every congressional cycle. This is the second consecutive award won by Ohio.

Ohio FFA Association held its new Ohio Legislative Leadership Conference (OLLC) Sept. 26, at which Ohio Farm Bureau Federation (OFBF) staff taught 200 FFA members about government, advocating for agriculture in government, and helped them prepare to meet their legislators.
The camp is open to high school students (must have at least finished freshman year) and is June 22-25. The cost is $130 with limited scholarships available.
