Stimulus package investments in infrastructure, broadband and renewable energy are of particular interest to Ohio farmers.
Ohio Sen. Sherrod Brown, D, joined a bipartisan group of seven senators in introducing the bill, which seeks to reduce billions of gallons of fossil fuels through renewable energy sources produced from animal waste.
The Milk Income Loss Contract (MILC), which was initially authorized in the 2002 Farm Bill, provides monthly payments to producers when market prices drop below the program’s defined trigger price.

The Ohio Bureau of Workers’ Compensation is extending the filing date for group rating programs. As a result, OFBF members may submit AC-3 authorizations for group rating programs until April 1.

Saying that his constituents face challenges just as unique as urban residents, Ohio Congressman Zack Space called on President Obama to establish a White House office dedicated to rural issues.
According to the Animal Agriculture Alliance, a watchdog for the livestock industry, attacks on the global food chain from animal rights and environmental extremists jumped 42 percent -- from 155 in 2007 to 220 in 2008.
Each year, U.S. House Minority Leader John Boehner holds a farm forum in his southwest Ohio district to discuss issues facing American agriculture. OFBF President Brent Porteus highlighted some of those issues for attendees during this year’s event. Below are excerpts from Porteus’ speech.
