Ohio’s water quality and nutrient management bill, Senate Bill 150, introduced by Senators Cliff Hite and Bob Peterson, unanimously passed the Senate Jan. 23. Ohio Farm Bureau testified in support of the bill and made it a “key vote”, as its provisions met Farm Bureau policy.

What does OSHA’s surprise inspection of an Ohio farm mean for you?

Recently, an Ohio Farm Bureau member received an unexpected inspection from the Occupational and Safety Health Administration (OSHA) on his farm. We looked into it and found no reason why the farm shouldn't have qualified for OSHA’s small farm exemption. We quickly referred the member to legal counsel knowing something strange was going on.

EPA plans to scale back Renewable Fuels Standard

The RFS target initially set for 2014 was 18.5 billion gallons, up from 16.55 billion gallons this year. EPA is proposing reducing that target to 15.2 billion gallons of renewable fuels, a move large oil companies strongly support.

Students invited to learn more about political process through Capitol Challenge

Ohio Farm Bureau is teaming up with 4-H and FFA for the second year on a program that will teach high school students how to take action in the government process. The Ohio Youth Capitol Challenge program will take place Feb. 18-19 in Columbus. Forty high school students from across the state will be chosen to participate in the 1 ½ day-long policy development program.
