OFBF - Medical Mutual FAQsAnswers to Frequently Asked Questions Regarding
Ohio Farm Bureau’s Partnership with Medical Mutual
Q: What does this mean to me as an OFB member? A: Your benefit will be enhanced. You will now have access to more doctors and hospitals because Medical Mutual’s SuperMed network is the most extensive in the state of Ohio. Q: Are my premiums going to go up? A: The premium on your existing health plan will not be adjusted as a result of the addition of the Medical Mutual network, or the transition of the plan from Nationwide to Medical Mutual. If your policy is scheduled to renew in the coming months then a change in premium is possible at that time. Q: Are my benefits changing? A: Existing health plan benefits will remain the same until the transition from Nationwide to Medical Mutual. When your policy is transitioned to Medical Mutual, you will receive comparable- in some cases better- benefits as your current plan. You will be notified of any changes to your benefits in advance. Q: Do I have to change doctors? A: Most doctors participate in Medical Mutual’s SuperMed network. You can check the online directory on MedMutal.com and search for your doctor’s name. If you find that your doctor is not in Medical Mutual’s network, you can nominate your doctor for inclusion in the network by calling Medical Mutual’s customer service department. Q: I’m pregnant (or receiving treatment for another condition). Can I keep seeing the same doctor through delivery, even though my doctor isn’t in Medical Mutual’s network? A: Exceptions can be made for members in this type of situation. There is a form called a “Transition of Care” form that allows you to continuing seeing an out-of-network doctor for a short period of time. You will receive an ID card with a Medical Mutual logo on it before your coverage begins, and you can call the number on the card to request a “Transition of Care” form. Q: Whom do I call for claims and customer service? A: Please refer to the contact numbers listed on your ID card for claims and customer service issues. Q: Along with my provider network changing, is my drug vendor changing? A: No, your drug vendor will not be changing, Medical Mutual has a long standing relationship with Medco, your current PBM. Q: When will I know when we will be transferred to a Medical Mutual of Ohio policy? A: Members enrolled in an Ohio Farm Bureau product (excluding Medicare Supplement) will move to Medical Mutual on June 1, 2008. Medical Mutual and the Ohio Farm Bureau will be communicating to you in advance of this transition with specifics. | |
