Regional meetings to support Clean Ohio renewalPublished on 04/14/2008
As part of the Ohio economic stimulus package recently announced by Gov. Ted Strickland and the state’s legislative leaders, a $400 million Clean Ohio Fund renewal would have to be passed by Ohio voters in the November election to continue to fund the preservation of green space and farmland, improve outdoor recreation, and revitalize blighted neighborhoods by cleaning up and redeveloping polluted properties.
Concerned citizens and voters will have the opportunity to participate in the planning for support of the Clean Ohio Fund through regional meetings being held throughout the month of April and into the beginning of May. Sponsored by the Ohio LCV Education Fund and The Nature Conservancy, the first meeting will be held Monday, April 14, in Columbus, with other meetings throughout the state to follow.
“Clean Ohio has been an extremely successful program and it is important for citizens to be engaged in the process as we work toward its reauthorization,” said Ohio Farm Bureau Director of Policy Development Chris Henney. Registration for the meetings is free of charge, but required. Click here to view a list of meeting dates and locations, and to download a registration form.
