5/15 - Planting Blueberries in the Home Garden

The blueberry is rising in popularity. Not only are they delicious, but they are low in calories and packed with nutrition.

Blueberries can be a good fruit crop for the home garden since they require little space to grow. With the proper soil and a little care, you can harvest the berries to eat fresh or use for cobblers, jellies, juice or pies.

Questions that will be addressed include:

  • Can I grow blueberries in Ohio?

  • What do I need to grow blueberries?

  • How much work is involved?

  • When do I harvest the fruit?

  • How do I control pests?

Whether you are considering adding blueberries to your garden, or want to increase the production of your current plants, don’t miss this workshop as OSU Horticulture Specialist Dr. Shawn Wright walks you through the steps of successful blueberry production.
