OFBF receives two Silver Quill Awards

Communications excellence recognized for its consumer brand, Our Ohio

COLUMBUS, Ohio - Ohio Farm Bureau Federation’s consumer brand, Our Ohio, is a two-time winner in the 2007 Silver Quill Awards Competition for excellence in communications within its Heritage Region which includes 18 northeastern states. The competition is sponsored by the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC).

Out of the 49 awards announced in April, Our Ohio received two Awards of Merit for its magazine and Web site. The judges rated the work as among the best of all entries submitted in the Publications and Electronic and Digital Communications Categories.

Ohio Farm Bureau launched the Our Ohio brand in 2001 as an effort to reach Ohio’s consumers by demonstrating how the Buckeye state’s rich agricultural heritage is woven into everyday people, products, values and culture.

The Our Ohio brand family includes: OurOhio.org, a consumer-targeted Web site providing expert information and “how-to’s” on topics such as gardening, travel, cooking, history, animals, community involvement, and where to buy Ohio farm products locally; Our Ohio magazine – a publication that explores Ohio through the faces and places that connect the state’s past, present, and future; and the Our Ohio TV program, a 30-minute magazine-style television show airing on all public television stations throughout the state.

Our Ohio will be presented with the awards on Oct. 12 at the 2008 Heritage Region Conference in Hartford, Conn.
