TOM BRISKER
Ohio Department of Agriculture Chief, Division Meat Inspection

Tom Brisker was appointed chief of the Ohio Department of Agriculture Division of Meat Inspection in March 1997. The division's eight veterinary supervisors, 10 meat inspector supervisors, 106 meat inspectors and seven central office staff are responsible for overseeing the wholesomeness of the state's billion-dollar meat industry. One of the division’s recent activities was the implementation of the Hazard Analysis at Critical Control Points (HACCP) inspection system at many of Ohio’s state inspected packing plants.

He has also served as assistant chief of the Division of Meat Inspection; veterinarian-in-charge of the Licensing and Inspections Section and the Laboratory Services Unit; specialist-in-charge of the Feed and Fertilizer Section; and district veterinary supervisor of the Division of Meat Inspection.

Brisker earned his bachelor’s of science, agriculture education certification and doctor of veterinary medicine from The Ohio State University.

Ohio Department of Agriculture Chief, Division of Markets

Liana Lee was appointed chief of the Division of Markets in December 1999. The mission of the division is to provide quality-marketing services to Ohio's food and agricultural industries in order to enhance their competitive advantage in Ohio, the United States and the global marketplace. The Division of Markets is also responsible for overseeing Ohio's eight-state commodity marketing programs.

Lee began her career with ODA in 1993 as assistant chief of the division where she was responsible for domestic marketing and overseeing the OHIO PROUD program. Prior to her employment with ODA, she was coordinator of public relations for The Ohio State University Agricultural Technical Institute in Wooster, Ohio.

She earned a bachelor's degree in agricultural communications and economics from The Ohio State University.
