Dan and Cindy Sturgill

Dan and Cindy Sturgill produce corn, wheat and soybeans on 300 acres in Miami County. New technologies and conservation practices are employed on the farm to grow and sustain their operation. Along with production agriculture, Dan works in the nutritional research department at Proctor and Gamble Pet Care, namely the IAMS Company. Cindy is a professional photographer, specializing in weddings, portraits, and events.

Outside of work, they are both are involved with the Miami County Farm Bureau board, adult staff for 4-H camp, and are directors for the Miami Valley Steam Threshers Association.

Future goals for the Sturgill farming operation include creating a subsurface irrigation system that combines the benefits of wetlands and subsurface drainage tiles, obtaining better nitrogen management in corn though VRA, while side dressing based upon crop and soil tests taken less than 24 hours prior to application. The Sturgills also plan to create educational opportunities on the farm for the community, and fellow producers.
