Congresswoman Marcy Kaptur
Ninth Ohio District
U.S. House of Representatives

Kaptur is a 10th-term Democrat representing Fulton, Lucas, and portions of Ottawa and Wood counties. On the House Appropriations Committee, her subcommittee assignments include Agriculture and Environmental Protection.

Before Congress, Kaptur spent 15 years as a city and regional planner. She was an adviser to the Carter administration. She was awarded the VFW Americanism Award and is the only woman recipient of the "Barbed Wire" award for her commitment to veteran affairs.

Kaptur is a life-long resident of Toledo. She earned a bachelor degree in history from the University of Wisconsin. She received her masters' in urban planning from the University of Michigan. Kaptur was awarded an Honorary Doctor of Laws degree by the University of Toledo.
