Profiles Volunteer Earl Johnson, who turned 90 June 7, has been a long-time member and supporter of Ohio Farm Bureau. Johnson has served on nearly every Ottawa County Farm Bureau committee imaginable including membership and forestry and remains very active in his county. He also served as treasurer. "Farm Bureau has done so much to improve country life, and the benefits members can receive through Nationwide and Farm Bureau are unmatched," Johnson said. Johnson also remains active in community activities. He has been a member of the Owens State Community College Board since 1979. He has served as a member of the Ottawa County Planning Commission, has been a supervisor of Ottawa Soil and Water Conservation District and has been active in 4-H club work. Johnson received bachelor’s and master’s degrees in education from the University of Toledo. He was a principal at Oak Harbor High School and superintendent of Ottawa County Schools for 10 years. He also is a veteran of World War II. He is a landowner and farm operator in Ottawa County and is a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church. | |
