After two years of teaching about global economics, Ohio teachers wanted to offer their students more information specifically about Ohio’s trade. In response, Ohio Farm Bureau sponsored the development of a new educational packet now available for teachers.

The activities contained in "Ohio in the Global Market" help students learn about the countries with which Ohio trades the most products and what those Ohio products are.

The lessons are appropriate for grades 4 to 6, but are easily adaptable to higher-grade levels. Professional development workshops were held throughout the state to help teachers learn about the packet. Previous users of the "Lessons in Economics" teacher kit were sent a free packet to supplement the "Lessons in Economics" notebook they received in earlier training sessions.

"Ohio in the Global Market" covers economics concepts related to Ohio and trading partners around the globe. The information is based on Ohio Department of Development statistics. Colorful charts and graphs depict export information about Ohio’s top trading partners.
