Betty Fox, county Promotion and Education chair, enrolled the Farm Bureau in the Adopt A Highway program. The group cleaned two miles of State Route 293 through Kirby four times in 2001 with the county youth group assisting twice and advisory councils cleaning twice. "The youth group and councils were really a big help. It was a big undertaking, but the road really needed cleaned and its a good way for Farm Bureau to get its name out there," Fox said. Route 293 sports a green and white Adopt A Highway sign with the Wyandot County Farm Bureaus name on it. "The Adopt A Highway road sign puts our name out year round for everyone, even nonmembers to see daily," Fox said. The road is a main thoroughfare making the sign visible to many people. There is a grain elevator and a fertilizer plant located on the road and it is highly traveled by farmers. "We were really happy about the response weve gotten. Weve had a lot of help and will be able to continue to do our part," Fox said. | |
