Training Planned for AWARE ProgramCounty agricultural ecology coordinators and other volunteers will have an opportunity to learn more about OFBF’s AWARE program starting later this spring and summer. The AWARE Program – Agricultural Watershed Awareness and Resource Evaluation – will give Farm Bureau members a chance to do some actual water quality monitoring in streams and waterways near their own farms. The continual collection of information will create a usable and reliable database so the quality of waterways can be monitored. The AWARE Program was kicked off with agricultural ecology coordinators at last summer’s Leadership Conference. Water quality monitoring kits have been developed and distributed to each county FB office. Training on how to use the kits will be "hands-on" during the in-stream workshops. More details, such as times, dates and locations, will be publicized in future issues of Buckeye Farm News and on OFBF’s Web site (www.ofbf.org) under the Ecology of Agriculture link. | |
