Barb Casper
Highland County

Those who know her simply call her "the safety lady." Barb Casper, Highland County safety coordinator, said everywhere she goes, she talks about safety.

Casper said farming is such a high-risk industry, that there is always somewhere to show awareness for safety. As coordinator, she gives many safety talks and sets up safety displays. She speaks to the Highland County Farmer’s Club during its monthly meetings five times a year. She has also spoken to the Lion’s Club, Buford Farmers Institute and several FFAs. For Safety Week in September, she created window displays at local businesses and banks.

"We have to be proactive. Everyday farming activities that we are so used to doing can become real quick accidents," Casper said.

She also has served on the promotion and education committee. She and her husband, Russ, own a cow/calf operation and raise hay, corn, soybeans and wheat.
