Jacobs Named to New OFBF PositionMelissa Jacobs has been named director of the newly created safety and field staff development director for the Ohio Farm Bureau Federation. Jacobs will be working as a liaison between Ohio Farm Bureau and the county Farm Bureau organization directors and volunteer safety coordinators to help the county organizations develop farm safety awareness programs for their members. Her duties also include expansion and maintenance of safety programs that meet the needs of Farm Bureau members. Within field staff development, she will be involved with training new Farm Bureau organization directors. "Melissa is well qualified for her new duties," Jeff Watkins, vice president of field services said. "Her training, experience and enthusiasm will serve her well in her new responsibilities as she works to elevate the safety program and provide additional training for the field staff." Jacobs joined the OFBF staff in 1996 as an organization director for Carroll, Harrison, Jefferson and Tuscarawas counties. In 1998, she became the organization director for Clark, Champaign and Madison counties. After graduate school, Jacobs returned to OFBF as the metropolitan program coordinator. The Delaware County native graduated from Otterbein College with a bachelor’s degree in business and organizational communication and from The Ohio State University with a master’s in agricultural communication. She is a member of Ohio FFA Alumni and the Cooperative Communicators Association. She and her husband, John, reside in Sunbury. | |
